The technology behind hydrogen and ammonia production has been safely used for decades. Paired with energy from wind and solar sources, we can now create a local source of ammonia to power agricultural, maritime, and industrial sectors of our economy.

How It Works

1.

Electricity is generated from wind turbines and solar panels.

2.

The electricity is used to power electrolysis, a process in which water is split into hydrogen and oxygen using an electric current in a device called an electrolyzer.

3.

The hydrogen is combined with nitrogen from the air to create ammonia. Ammonia is a key resource for fertilizer, fuels and industrial applications.

4.

The ammonia will be delivered to agricultural and industrial customers using existing pipeline infrastructure. Cedar Ridge does not intend to build new pipeline infrastructure for the project.
